About The Johara Dance Ensemble
The Johara Dance Ensemble is a professional Middle Eastern Dance troupe based in Fort Worth, Texas founded and directed by professional dancer
Nadirah Johara. The Johara Dance Ensemble started performing officially as a group in
September of 2005 and unofficially for two years before. The word 'Johara' in Arabic means Gem or Jewel. The group currently consists of
ten lovely Jewels. All are talented, beautiful ladies with unique styles and experiences. Each of which has
extensively trained in Middle Eastern Dance for a number of years with Nadirah Johara and have taken numerous workshops with
internationally known dancers such as Magda and Atef Farag, Katia of Boston, Adia Nour, Nagawa Fouad, Magdy El Liesy, and many more! For more details please visit the dancers' page.
The Johara Dance Ensemble is
dedicated to providing authentic Middle Eastern Dance entertainment. A living art form, Middle Eastern Dance is
enriched by interpretations and modern influences. The Johara Dance Ensemble honors the roots of
this ancient dance through traditional styles, while simultaneously contributing
to the evolution of the dance through contemporary interpretation.
With an emphasis on vibrant, dynamic
performance, Johara Dance Ensemble’s goal is to promote the art of Middle
Eastern Dance and to correctly educate the public about this beautiful living
art form.
The Johara Dance Ensemble performs at a multitude of venues! They have regularly performed at Stratos Greek Taverna
and currently perform monthly at
Byblos Lebanese Restaurant.
Please see the "performances" page for a

They have also performed at many annual events such as Mayfest and Gallery Night in Fort Worth. They have also danced at fund raisers for
the American Heart Association and multicultural events for schools along with various retirement communities. In April of 2006 they were delighted to welcome to the U.S. for the first time, the one and only, Lucy from Cairo in Little Egypt's Friday night show.
All of The Johara Dance Ensemble's dancers are passionate about Middle Eastern dance and continue to further their education by attending
Nadirah Johara's weekly classes offered at the Lockheed
Martin Recreation Center as well as advanced level workshops. For more information please see the “Instruction”
