Shahara
Shahara’s first encounter with
Middle Eastern Dance was at Scarborough Faire. She remembers thinking how fun
it would be to dress up and lose
yourself in this exotic dance. Not long after Shahara enrolled in an
introductory belly dance class at UTA. From there she moved on to study with
Miabella and eventually met Nadira Johara, her current instructor. Always
striving to better her dance, she has taken workshops with renowned artists such
as Amaya, Mahmoud Reda, Raqia Hassan, Jasmin Jahal, Katia of New Mexico and many
others.
Shahara is the troupe
couturière and takes great pride in helping
create the beautiful costumes the ladies wear for
performances.
By day, Shahara is an HR Generalist
who supervises a payroll and benefits department. She has lived all over the
world and has a great appreciation for other cultures, but has a special
fondness for Latin food, music, and dance. She enjoys traveling, reading and
relaxing by the pool with her husband.
